Nellie Cochran's Crew (Guild)

Another Guild crew finished.  Nellie Cochran and her journalist pool. These models are fantastic.  Thematic and so different than your normal war game fare.  One of the few crew boxes where you will likely use at least one of every model in every game.

McMourning Group Shot (Resurrectionists)

Quick family photo of the McMourning crew as it stands now.  Much more to paint but happy so far.  I was concerned the different base themes would drive me nuts but it doesn't.

Rotten Belle (Resurrectionists)

How do you not love a game with zombie western prostitutes?  The Rotten Belles are standard fair in a Resser crew.  Great value for the points.  They lure the enemy or your own models.  Watch out for their pounce!

Necropunk (Resurectionists)

One of the best scheme runners in the Ressers.  His leap allows him to drop two markers in one activation - always a value.  I'm having a blast with these undead models.

Mortimer (Restrictionists)

My first two purchases for Malifaux were Perdita's crew box and Nicodem's box.  I painted up Perdita's box and fell into playing her faction hard (Guild).  Now its almost a year later and I've started taking a break from painting Guild and slowly getting some Ressers painted. This is Mortimer - the henchman from Nicodem's box.  A gravedigger who gets Nicodem the corpses he needs to raise the dead.  Have I mentioned how thematic Malifaux is? Do you play Ressers?  What is your favorite master?  Do you play against them?  Who do you hate the most?

Executioner (Guild)

This was an experiment in bruised flesh and painting liquids in a vial.  I'll mark both a success for first attempts.  Tutorials on the interwebs are a good thing.

Brutal Emissary (Guild)

I was reluctant to get this model.  It is beautiful but I wasn't sure I wanted something so "fantastical" in my Guild crews.  Luckily I smartened up. I was happy with my choices on colors.  The bone is darker than I normally paint bone but it tied well with the other browns.  Painting the man in the cage first before assembling the cage was a no-brainer good move. He is an almost auto-include in my Sonnia lists to get the burning she needs to maximize her damage.

Dr. Grimwell (Guild)

The good Dr. Grimwell for Malifaux.  The star on the Guild side of the starter box.  He is a Witch Hunter which gives him a nice synergy with Sonnia. The sculpt is a tad cartoony with the grin and the exaggerated folds.  He was easy to paint and helped me work on getting better at painting white. I often see him with a lot of blood and splatter.  I've learned that less is more with blood.  It is tempting to go overboard but you'll find the blood stands out and has more of a visual impact if you are judicious with it. I went red on the shirt and goggle lens to help make the blood stand out even more. On the table he deals the damage but is somewhat easy to kill.  I like his Research Grant upgrade - he will be killing anyway so why not get a stone when he does.  The hard part is remembering to collect the soul stone once you make the kill. He also has a nice movement trick which can be useful in a Sonnia crew to get the most out of her AP.  I'd rather Sonnia use

Gupps (Neverborn)

After painting a few Guild models I need to take a break and try something different.  In the background I've been slowly getting some Neverborn models painted up for a Zoraida crew.  The Spawn Mother box comes with enough Gupps to make three bases with three a piece.  I turned the 9 into 5 bases by doing 2 per base and one base with one. After building and basing all 5 I found out that they are supposed to be on 40mm bases.  I'll need to move them off the 30mm bases before painting another one.

Mr. Mercury (Arcanists)

Alternative Performer (Mr. Mercury) from the Dark Carnival set for Malifaux

Phiona Gage (Guild)

Phiona Gage for Malifaux

Samael Hopkins (Guild)

Samael Hopkins for Malifaux.

Scales of Justice (Guild)

Another Guild totem complete.  The Scales of Justice can now join Lady Justice.

Perdita and Sonnia Crew Boxes

Though I've painted most of the Guild range I'm now getting to the totems.  Below are two full crew boxes done.
